Dr. Harvey Ogden Skinner with a patient in the Union Gospel Mission clinic circa 1912.

The Mission’s first medical clinic is established to provide free medical care to people who are homeless and hurting — but not sick enough to go to the City and County Hospital (later known as Ancker Hospital). The clinic helps to soothe the coughs, colds, ulcerated legs and other ailments afflicting homeless people.
